Among the many notable female politicians who have taken to social media to mark the big day include First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo who took to Facebook to celebrate mothers.

Her post read: ““I AM WHO I AM, BECAUSE OF MAMA ” is a common sentiment among Ghanaian children.

And they are right: the stories that follow are stories of bold sacrifices and pain; of mysterious love and investments.

I believe celebrating mothers would never go out of date. After all, there is constant need of their bountiful supply of prayers, even in one’s old age.

A mother’s love , A Mother’s Prayer, A Mother’s Faith, A mother’s Counsel, A Mother’s Touch.
As I reflect on these, one message is clear: We love them, because they first, loved us.

Angels in the shape of mothers – May we continue to thank them, may we continue to love and adore them, may we be like them. Happy Mothers’ Day!”

Second Lady Samira Bawumia also marked the day with a message which read: “Happy Mothers’ Day to all our amazing women out there.”

Former First Lady Madam Lordina Mahama also wrote: “#HappymothersdayIt is another opportunity to celebrate and honour our cherished mothers. I celebrate the hardworking and selfless Matrons and Staff of orphanages across the country. They have dedicated their lives to nurturing and caring for the young ones in their care. Let me also appreciate the female frontline workers who have fearlessly been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. I must also celebrate all single mothers, single fathers and guardians performing the role of mothers. Continue your good works and know that your hardwork will never go unrewarded. God bless you all. Happy Mothers Day!Lordina Dramani MahamaFormer First Lady & President, Lordina Foundation.”
