Mulitple award-winning Ghanaian musician Sarkodie known in private life as Michael Owusu Addo has reacted to the unfortunate passing of 13-year-old Michael Kofi Asiamah, who he recently partly supported to undergo brain tumour surgery.
Young Michael, a fan of Sarkodie, needed $30,000 for an urgent surgery leading to a fundraiser being started on social media.
Within hours, the amount for the surgery was exceeded with Sarkodie reported to have contributed a whooping $10,000 of the amount.
On April 6, 2021, young Michael had the surgery which his mother, Cordelia Ama Selormey, updated on social media that it was very successful and that Michael was steadily recovering.
But on Friday, April 9, 2021, Michael passed away following complaints of chest pain. The 13-year-old boy’s mother announced the news of his passing on Facebook.
Moments after the news of Michael’s demise, Sarkodie took to Twitter to share a video of the boy rapping his Happy Day song.
A shocked Sarkodie disclosed that he had spoken to the boy but he unfortunately passed away. Sarkodie’s post read: “We spoke on the phone and your fierce energy gave me Hope you definitely coming back but I guess God had different plans … Rest well Michael”
