Multiple award-winning Ghanaian musician and reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene has been sued over an alleged case of song theft, frimprinceproductions has learnt.
Reports from multiple sources have it that the Open Gate singer was sued to the tune of GHC 120,000 by one Ghana-based Nigerian artiste Oduma Essan who filed a copyright lawsuit against Kuami.

According to the artiste, he is a joint owner of Kuami Eugene’s hit song “Show Body” which featured Falz and was released on October 9, 2020.
Oduma Essan, according to the writ released his song with the same title, “Show Body”, on July 17, 2020, months before Eugene’s version was released.
According to Oduma Essan, not was there the similarity in the title of the song but there were also some similarities between the two songs.
He was therefore seeking the court to order Eugene to pay him to the tune of GHC120,000 in damages.
When this came to light, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, reacted to it and said his artiste was always in the news for these kind of things because of some reports made in the media.

Richie said: “Kuami Eugene keeps getting attacks regularly because they’ve come to see that when you attack him, you make news. All you have to do is say ‘this’ and get attention.”
