Unveiled: Meet Ateaa Tina Daddy Lumba’s Silky-Voiced Backing Vocalist Who Sang In 5 DL Albums (Photos)

Ateaa Tina, one of the backing vocalists of Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu famed as Daddy Lumba or DL for short, has opened up about her life and how she got to work with Ghana’s highlife legend.

Tina, in sharing her story, said she grew up in a humble background in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, living the normal life of any young girl but later discovered that she had the latent for singing.

Her singing talent got her to be noticed at church as she became an integral part of the church choir until she met sound engineer Kwaku Mensah who became her manager.

She then started training to become a vocalist and became so good at it that got a number of gigs until one day she was told that Daddy Lumba wanted to work with her.

Ateea Tina said when she heard the news, she did not believe it because Daddy Lumba was one of the best artistes in the country at the time.

She continued that at the time, she was in Holland and Daddy Lumba was in Germany, so they had to make a 6-hour drive to meet DL.

Tina revealed that when they met, they immediately started working on Lumba’s projects and her life started changing from then.

She said she was schooling and at the same time working as a backing vocalist for Daddy Lumba so they mostly recorded when school was on break.

Tina said they literally slept in the studio during recording time and parted ways only after the whole album had been recorded.

The pretty lady whose vocals have been heard in songs like Bubra, Adaka Tea, Medo No, Pony, and Dada Kae, said working with the musician gave her a lot of mileage and also came with a lot of money.

She however said that she has been living abroad all this while but has come back to Ghana to start her own music career.

Ateaa Tina revealed that she has already recorded a single a-which features Ghana’s ‘rap doctor’, Okyeame Kwame.
